Fifth Gear is much more of a petrol head show than TG so it's definitely is good news that it's back. I'm a big fan of VBH and Tiff going all the way back to when they presented Top Gear. I miss Quentin Wilson as well.

I think now in terms of "car show ness", and therefore the watchability,
both TGT and 5th Gear have surpassed the current entity known as top gear.
INterestingly 5th gear attempt to carry on from what "old old top gear" was, and TGT attempt to carry on from what "new old top gear" had become.

I wish they'd gotten Tiff for new TG, or Harris for Fifth gear. Or just just put Harris and Tiff in their own show.

Jonny Smith has a watchable YouTube channel, he's way less annoying than I used to find him on the actual TV.

Him and Richard Porter have a channel too, Smith and Sniff that's good for a laugh, they should really start a podcast.

It was. I don't mind the mechanics......in a mechanical show like Wheeler Dealers. 5th Gear isn't like that so just shoehorning it in there doesn't work. Plus the bit they left out - showing 3 affordable 2nd hand alternatives to the new car they're featuring - is my favourite part of the show.
