While the arts students are wetting their pants at the thought of protesting Trump, they remain unmoved towards the plight of gay populations in Asia.

Typical crap title to the thread. It’s lazy at this stage.

Do you expect everyone that fights for specific rights to fight every single cause? How much time do you think everyone has?

Yes. Which makes the smelly arts students just as bad as what they profess to stand against.

    Whataboutery recipe

    Ingredients:
1 conflict/rights abuse nobody has heard about or has only come to local media today
    1 political/social grouping you don't like

Mix the conflict and grouping together in one bowl. Season with outrage.

Serve with one follow up post, then withdraw.

What have you done about it yourself?

Then there’s Saudi Arabia, bestest friend of the US and crucifier of the gays. Or maybe stonings. I forget.

Unreasonable to expect people to be sympathetic to every cause that’s walking the road.

I will agree that certain gripes are more fashionable than others, however.

a prat who gave a character reference to a sex offender (because his family were involved in the GAA and of course they must be good people because of that) who has an opinion on everything

What's more relatable to someone in Ireland?

    A) the highly controversial "Leader of the Free World" coming to Ireland.
    B) human rights abuses of a small population on the far side of the world.

Not to be confused with Mickey Joe Harte, Eurovision singer.

Does being 'smelly' accurately indicate one's position on the political spectrum I wonder?

Do you have anything to add about the situation in Malaysia or are you just using the abuse of others as an excuse to attack the left...because that would be pretty low.

Yep, like as if he made threads on India, Switzerland with the exact same rationale.

Of course if they do turn up, he'll have a thread wondering if they only protest because they don't have a job.

    Getting boring at this stage

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
