So I'm in the market for a new car & would like boardsies to help me choose.

    Budget 30-32k.

    Annual mileage: circa 20k km
    Half M50, half back roads

Need a reasonably sizeable family car/suv/mpv.
Edit: also want it to be economical to run & low road tax if possible

So what would you recommend (& why)

    Kuga

Nice enough car in many ways - quiet diesel engine, comfortable driving position. Comfortable seats. Decent ride comfort in front seats

Boot is a tad small though - was surprised at how little stuff it takes to fill up a Kuga boot.

    Rear legroom just okay

Ride comfort in the rear not quite as good as the front - you feel slightly more of the road imperfections for some bizarre reason. I don't know if that's a Kuga norm or specific to my sisters company car Kuga. Might not have noticed it AT ALL were it not for the good refinement of the rest of the car

    Kuga

I’ve heard the Kuga is going to be very dirty under the new emmissions testing & high tax because of it. Similarly with the Mondeo- one dealer told me they won’t be able to sell it in its current state. In any case price looks to be too high for me for these.

The current Kuga model is coming to the end of its life cycle soon anyway, it's been on sale since 2012.

Focus Active will likely cannobalise a lot of Kuga sales anyway (not saying they’re the same thing)

Renault Scenic. Its much better looking and far more practical than all the SUV's of the same size currently on the roads.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

    Kia Niro plug in hibrid
Very good spec as standard, low tax, 1/2 M50 tool, and up very economical.
    Lots of space as well.
    Around your price range
Think is one of the best value cars at the moment.
I don’t own one but a friend does and he seems to be liking it.
7 years warranty is a good bonus
