CBD oil while driving/ working

    Hi All,
CBD Oil has been suggested to me to help with anxiety.

But I have asked around and no seems to be able to answer my questions on the above.

In fact a health food store that sells came out and said they are not allowed to talk about the product in that regard as they had to sign something to say they cannot or it could be removed and simply said I needed to look online.

So, is it legal to drive in Ireland while having taken CBD oil?

Will the Garda drug test dedicate as an illegal substance if tested?

Is it safe to use in a on office work environment, my company doesn't actively do drug tests but in the event they did would it be grounds for dismissal?

Any advice or links would be great.

I'm not 100% sure as i don't use the substance but I believe the CBD oil doesn't have THC which is the psychoactive chemical in marijuana, the oil is used to ale many things but doesn't get you "high" so i cant see how they would test for anything illegal when it doesn't have the illegal chemical in it.

I may be corrected by someone later on but that's my understanding

CBD Oil is not illegal as long as it is doesn't contain THC. The Gardai test for THC when driving. Currently the Gardai only test for THC, benzodiazepines, opiates and cocaine.

CBD Oil shouldn't give you the effects of intoxication like smoking cannabis would so you should be fine but if you're concerned seek advice.

    Thanks for the replies.

My understanding is the CBD oil will have less than 2% THC in them so while not having the high affect I guess it's still a possibility of it being detected in a test.

I guess there's no way to know what levels would determine a positive result or if saying you take only the oil would be a good enough reason for the result.

    Could you ask the Gardai?

The cbd oil that you'll pick up over the counter will have zero thc in it, and very little cbd, regardless of the label claims.

You wouldn't have their number would ya? ; )

Just kidding. Guess I could ring the local station to see if they could put me in touch with someone who could answer.

    What makes you say that?

The one I got today is made by Jacob Hooy.

Mentions nothing about THC and that it's ingredients are hemp seed oil and hemp paste ( flower and leaf)

CBD oil is perfectly legal. It is not a controlled substance so you cannot be drug tested for it or fired from your job. They may be warnings on the products advising you not to drive or operate machinery if you are taking the oils.

I haven't tried it myself so don't have any first hand knowledge about its effects or lack of.

It doesn't have to be illegal for it to be illegal for you to drive while taking it. There are many legal medications that you can be tested for and cause you to fail the drug test.

If you think about it, you might take it for anxiety and if it works it will work by relaxing you. This in turn may impact on your driving in the same way taking valium or zanax would.

I would imagine legal or not legal, that you can be charged with drug driving with this stuff

I'd be more out of it after a 10mg diazepam than a joint but yet a doctor would prescribe Valium and just warn to be cautious.

It's illegal to drive on 10mg diazepam. Believe it or not you can't drive even on 2mg.

and of course on opiate pain killers which are now tested for.

Anyone know if it’s legal to carry cbd oil on a flight to France?

The issue here around CBD is whether it contains ANY THC at all. If it contains < 0.2% THC, then it may not be illlegal.

HOWEVER, if its been processed from marijuana rather than hemp, then technically, it breaches the law. If processed from industrial hemp, and has no THC, it should be fine.

On the question of drug testing, if your employer test specificity goes down to 0.2%, and you're un!ucky, you may be swept up.

On flying with cbd oil, if your bottle is under 100ml, you should be grand.

Jacoob Hooy stuff is hoooey as far as I'm concerned and is grossly overpriced for what it is.

    Hey Tom,
    Can you recommend a brand?

    Mod
Sorry, no recommendations of such oils thru this forum, pls

Not sure why a perfectly legal item can't be recommended in a forum tbh. But hey ho!

When I'm checking out possibilities, I look for products where the compounds have been extracted using co2 methods, rather than oils that are produced from crushing hemp seeds and plants alone.

Hope this observation doesn't run foul of the mods. :D
