Gift tax question

    Hi,

Looking at the CAT thresholds and groups, would it be possible for a disponer to gift to one child, and for that child then to gift an amount to their sibling without being liable for CAT?

    Example:

Disponer gifts €310,000 to child A (group A threshold, avoids CAT)

Child A gifts €32500 to their sibling, child B (Group B threshold, avoids CAT)

Not looking for legal advice, but any opinions?

Should have read a bit more before posting...

This is an example of gift splitting, right? The transfer would be considered as from disponer to child B?
