Much as title says.. We are a cohabiting couple the last few months, disability allowance has been cut to 41.00 per week and try as we may we are struggling to get by.. Full time job yields at most 2k per month but can vary..
Asked disability office, they say their figures are correct, could we look at invalidity or UA or any other options we could explore? Oh rent is 900 per month.

For invalidity pension you need to have PRSI paid or credited in the last 3 years. What is your recent working/claiming history?

To get Invalidity Pension you must have at least:

260 (5 years) paid PRSI contributions since entering social insurance
48 contributions paid or credited* in the last OR second-last complete contribution year before the date of your claim

Visit your local Social Weflare branch in person, bring your partner and all your documents with you. They should be able to see your info - contributions etc by typing your pps number into their own database. They will tell you what you're entitled to etc, and give you the necessary application forms.

    Best of luck.

If you have children look at Family Income Supplement. Otherwise as already said you need to go to your social welfare office in person.

No children, not married either.. So basically go in cap in hand?. There's no precedent for this?.

Did you miss my post about your eligibility for invalidity pension? What is your recent PRSI history?
You've been means tested for Disability Allowance and your partners income dictates that your only allowed 41€ per week so there is no more financial help you can get from SW,
If you are in fact eligible for invalidity pension then you'll get €203.50 weekly irregadless of his income.
If not then your big problem is the €900 rent. That's nothing to do with SW.
Are you on the housing list? Have you applied for HAP?

Sorry, there wouldn't be anything recent in tax credits, many inpatient hospital stays, no full time job in the last decade.. Hap won't help due to their threshold and our circumstances oh and yes we are on housing list..

It's not tax credits that Invalidity pension are interested in. It's PRSI contributions or credits . For instance if you were working and then went out sick and were getting illness benefit then you would have had PRSI credits in that period and if you went on disability allowance then you would be entitled to credits then too and you might be entitled then to invalidity pension which I repeat is €203 per week not means tested.
You need to go to your local SW office and ask them to look at your recent record.
Either that or simply apply for IP
