Had one of those pivot head jobs a few years back. Worst vac ever. I assume it's been vastly improved since (at least I would hope so) but that Hoover stick vac that Tesco were selling for a ton would be a better use of your money than a completely hand held option.

+1 on the pivot head model. It's pathetic. We also had one of the other B&D "ORA" technology models. Sold that soon after purchase.

I wouldn't be a fan of a Dyson. Ridiculously expensive, however a family member has one of the newer dyson handhelds and there is no comparison in terms of suction. Battery life on the pivot wasn't great but then again we only want it for a quick vacuum every now and again. I find myself borrowing the dyson frequently. ON the look out for a decent handheld Dyson bargain if anyone sees one!

I have a pivot one I use for the car and the higer volt one is actually pretty good, you need to empty it out and keep it clean but it does the job pretty well

Lidl have their version of the Dyson on sale today. €70.
22v motor and the charger that hangs on the wall.
