Car insurance-change of use query?

    Hi

Would my car insurance allow me to change my policy so I can use the car for self -employment?

Car is a hatchback and work would entail having a bag of tools and a few things in the back.

I appreciate I can ask them obviously but I'd like a general idea before I contact them

    TIA

I'd imagine so. Only way to know for sure is to ask the insurer. Get the answer in writing.

You need to ask them, they may charge more depending on your business but be sure to tell them that you are not involved on sales and will not be carrying goods or samples - I don't think tools count in that regard. They will issue you with a new cert. which will add cover for 'use by the insured in connection with his trade or business, as last advised to the company'
