Do speed cameras track other side of road/fence?

Was driving this morning beside Tallaght Square, slightly went over limit.
Then noticed speed camera behind fence on N81.

Does it only monitor traffic on N81 or does it cover other side as well?

Wouldn't have thought so.
He'd have been setup with the speed limits on the dual carriage way but I'd be open to correction.

According to this article the cameras can monitor both sides of the road:

They can monitor both sides of the road, but in the OP's case, the van was on a completely different road to the one they were driving on. Since the van was the N81, they'll be clocking the cars on it (80 limit), not the road parallel to it (that probably has a 50 limit).
