May be allergic - help!

I've grown up with dogs all my life, but moved out of home years ago. The visits home have gotten more infrequent because of life, etc., but I come away with a "cold" every time I'm down there now. Perhaps I've lost my tolerance, and my suspicion is that I'm allergic to the dogs

Solutions of rehoming dogs / not allowing the dogs to roam freely around the house are off the cards. If push came to shove, I'd probably be the one rehomed / confined to one room

So, I'm wondering what people do to stave off symptoms of allergies / how can I dose myself up before I visit? If all comes to all, I'm considering either stealing a dog to use as a pillow or shave off some hair to carry on my person at all times to build up a tolerance

How clean are the dogs? I find its the dander that gets me more than fur but my two are always in the river so never really a problem for me lol... For antihistamines I find taking them at night works best for me - my favourite is AntiHist liquid.

The Anti-Hist liquid seems to be doing the job! Thanks I get to stay in the family home when I visit now. Whew!
