AutoBouquetMaker - Sky NI EPG numbers with Saorsat

    Hello,

    As per the title, I'm trying to create a Sky EPG bouquet which will swap out the RTE channels for those from Saorsat.

    My understanding is that I can create a custom Satellites.xml with only 9.0E and 28.2E listed. I then run the scan to pick the channels. Run ABM and it will produce two Example files and from this I create a custom mix in order to get the channel numbering as I desire. I understand that I might not even need the Saorsat Example file.

    Is this correct?

    I've been trying to get some help on this, but the ABM team have loaded the Satellites.xml with the 20.185 Left Hand Circular transponder info instead of the simplified 10.765 transponder details. I've been unable to get it to tune in the Saorsat channels on 20.185 - Signal Finder shows no activity.

    I then modified the Satellites.xml to refer to
    <transponder frequency="10765000" symbol_rate="25000000" polarization="1" fec_inner="2" system="1" modulation="1"/>

    and it picked up the Saorsat channels using the simplified tuner configuration settings - 28.2 on Port A and 9.0E on Port B.
    However when I reported this back to them I was told that ABM was not going to work with these settings and I needed to use their xml file with the Advanced tuner configuration settings.

    So, how do I get the receiver to pick up the 20.185 transponder? At the minute during heavy blustery rain the simplified setup 9.0E is showing SNR = 29% and AGC = 55%. 28.2E is showing SNR = 70% and AGC = 53% on the few transponders that I checked.

    I suspect that ABM requires the full Satellites.xml from GitHub as Saorsat otherwise comes up with an invalid NIM.

    Rather than go back again and ask them for help can someone here inform me how to set up the 20.185 transponder using the advanced tuner setup?

    Just to clarify the reason for doing this - I'm trying to set this up for elderly parents who are used to the Sky channel numbering. They have a Sky setup in another room so it makes sense to align the numbering for their ease of use.

    Thanks.

    Found the info!

    It was held within the sat_0090_saorsat.xml:
    <!-- The Saorsat LNB must be correctly set up in advanced tuner settings to enable Ka band reception. Select LOF: KA-SAT if this setting is available in your Enigma 2 image, otherwise configure the local oscillator frequency manually as follows:LOF: User definedLOF/L: 0000021200LOF/H: 0000021200Threshold: 0000021200 -->

    I didn't have the KA-SAT option so I had to manually enter the 212000 numbers as described.

    Performed a software update and obtained the KA-SAT setup in the Advanced menu as instructed. However, the signal finder is not picking anything up despite the diseqc settings being the same.

    I'll leave it with the old 10.765 setup for now...

    Okay - so I've generated the Saorsat bouquet and the Sky Bouquet using ABM.
    I've also created the CustomMix.

    When I key in 161 it changes to channel 161 and I can see that it has selected 9.0E from the infobar. However, both tuners (Mutant HD51) are now greyed out and the screen is blank.

    Is there something else I've missed in the setup files which I need to change for the channel to load?

    Anyone help here? Or even just post something so I'm not talking to myself :(

    If you have set up a new Ka-sat setup, would it be a separate satellite option in the antenna setup.

    With a Saorsat approved box you would be offered two 9E satellite options, one for Ka-sat.

    Sorry I don't have any knowledge about your setup, but if you've done a new setup of Ka-sat, it might add a separate satellite setting.

    I don't use KA-SAT. I've updated satellites.xml to refer to the 10765 frequency.

    I've previously tried KA-SAT but it would not pick up the signal.

    Why bother with ABM given the amount of grief you're getting. For the few rare occasions that a decent channel changes it would be much easier to update manually. IMO

    You said previously that you used dream box edit, is it the easiest way to do this?

    I get a bit stubborn and determined, but I think you are right and I should give up on it now, although it should be pretty close to working.

    Dreamboxedit is great if you have a lot of changes to make or want lots of different bouquets etc. If you only want to add a few channels to your favourites list it might be just as quick to do it on the box using the remote. Given that Saorsat is essentially just 4 useful channels try it directly on the box

    EDIT: See also for details

    "Left the folks with access via providers"

    You need to setup a favourites list (in e2 its called a bouquet). One single list called Saorview & Sat or whatever.

    Then you add the channels to that list. You do not need dreamboxedit, if you are not comfortable with it. Use the remote control.

    If you have ABM installed, uninstall it.

    To set up a fav list, press up arrow, then blue for favs, then menu, add bouquet and give it a name.

    When you have created a Fav list name. Any channel can be added to that list by clicking into channel list source ie 9e or dvb-t or 28.2e, pressing up arrow to pull up channel list, then pressing menu and then selecting add to bouquet.

    Then when in the fav list you can press menu and reorder by first choosing enable move mode and then selecting the channel, press ok and then moving it with the arrow keys and dropping it where you want, when happy where you want it press ok again.

    Your channels will then be 1 - 40 and the channels can be perused using the channel + and - or pressing the keys.

    Thanks. I'll be down with them later this evening and will look at it then. This TV is in a second room so they don't use it frequently and they keep forgetting how to use it and pressing wrong buttons, despite me leading them notes!

    Thanks

    Just re-read this. What they were wanting me to do for them was to swap in the Saorsat channels so that the numbering would be the same as SkyQ (which they have in main room).
    i.e.
    101 = BBC1 NI.
    102 = BBC2 NI
    ...
    161 = RTE1
    162 = RTE2
    163 = TG4
