Things people in other cultures say that drive you mad

I love Indian men and fortunately they love me but one thing drives me close to killing their prized cow.

    They all call me "dear".

    Ugh.

    Seriously, stop it.

It's not quite as bad when they use the Malay equivalent Sayang but feck off with your "dear".

In Bali it's "darling". Nothing makes me leave a shop, restaurant, bar or massage place (the non hanky panky kind coz am female and they don't usually offer extras to me) than them calling me darling.

So what word or phrase from another culture drives you mad?

How it hasn't driven you to commit mass murder I don't know, the cheek of them.

    Glazers Out!

Not entirely sure how that's so different from here? I'll admit it puzzled me a bit at when I first arrived that bus drivers, shop assistants and pub landlords here called me "Love", but I got used to it quick enough to be honest.

Dear just reminds me of a granny asking you to do something for her not a hot guy you want to get down and dirty with.

Not a fan of the love or sweetie words being thrown about either but here, easily 95% of Indian guys I have engaged with have called me dear. They usually want to know if have had my breakfast/lunch/dinner depending on time of day.

Malay and Chinese don't do this.

"Howya boss, how much do you want for the car"

Member of a certain ethnic group when I challenged him about why he was peering in the window of my car one Saturday morning

You were showing a complete lack of respect for that person's culture.

I'd agree with you in the Arab men, tall dark and handsome, rawr!

But I can't say that I've ever been attracted to an Indian man

Go off to the most beautiful women in the world thread with yourself! :p

This thread isn't going to stay on topic for long, is it?

I'd say Indian, looks AND cute accent. And I love the gesturing.

Had forgotten that thread existed! (FYI, Indian FTW)

On topic, it's not what they say, but I have a hard time being around the cultures with shouty voices as standard. Like they're constantly on night club volume, regardless of where they are.

I went out with a mixed race Indian model once. The guy was a complete dickhead and had no respect for women.

Do they have to be for some people thinking they're cute or hot?

Beautiful Indians are among the most alluring people there are, IMO. Your typical average Indian would have a lot of competition from other typical average people, IMO.

Indians vary a lot. I saw one that looked like a choco buffy the vampire slayer

Tbh I think anyone like myself that has a Pocahontas complex can be swayed by just about anything exotic with sleek dark hair. Though sometimes they go blond and it’s even better

There will come a day when challenging travelers is being prejudicial and discriminatory. They play the minority card very well.

Heh, when I was still on online dating sites, I used to get this nearly verbatim (including the cringeworthy spelling) from Irish lads a lot, usually Sunday mornings around 4am... Do you think the Indians are engaged in some copyright-infringement scam?

People who use the phrase "alrighty" annoy the fcuk out of me.

When USA people say "fillay" of beef. It's fillet with an audible t. You are not feckin French.

Same people then say St. Louis instead of St. Louie!!

    Make up your feckin minds.
