I recently started a new job after signing on for Jobseekers Allowance.

This week, my first week of work was unpaid.

When, ideally, should I 'sign off'?

    Thanks.

You should already have signed off.You can't claim and work.Ypu should have told SW your start date.

You should have advised the Department as soon as you knew your start date. So if you started on a Monday, you would need to advise them by the previous Thursday if on Jobseekers Allowance or Friday if on benefit so that the amount of your final payment could be amended and paid to your bank account. Then if you had to work a back week you might have been eligible for Supplementary Welfare Allowance from the CWO. That way you avoid being assessed with an overpayment which you will now have to repay.
