    Is it warm?

Other than Orlando where is best?

Is there a risk of flights being cancelled in Dec-Jan due to hurricanes?

Is the shopping as good and as cheap as New York?

It won’t be very warm, but comfortable during the day, jackets at night. I’ve been down the Keys a few times, absolutely beautiful sunsets. Miami is great fun.

Sawgrass Mills is a good option for shopping as are the outlets in Orlando.

Nov-April is the best time to visit FL lower humidty, temperature and rainfall. Hurricane season ends in Nov so it will be quiet on that front too. Loads to do the theme parks will be quiet, if you want that lots of shopping, beaches, The Keys, The Everglades, South Beach, there is lots of variety in Florida from the panhandle to the Keys and everything in between!

Unless you are doing the theme parks then stay away from Orlando.

Get as far south as you can to help get better weather. Key West is lovely and very interesting.

Also can be pretty cheap to get to Mexico from Florida so maybe a few days on Cozumel which can be very nice in December.

December is well outside hurricane season, so no need to worry about that (unless we have another 2005, which is damned unlikely). Florida weather in the winter is kind of like Irish weather in the summer; it could be 10 degrees one day and 30 the next, raining or sunny, there's just no telling (and when it's cold, it's a damp and chilly cold, just like here). Pack a coat and short sleeves, for sure. The further south you go, the warmer it will be.

Orlando doesn't have much to offer except the theme parks; if you're looking for something different than that, try Miami or the Keys, maybe. If you do want to visit Disney and such, that time of year can be less crowded if you avoid the holidays (e.g. go mid-late January, not around Christmas and New Year's). Of course, if you want to see the lovely Christmas displays, you'll have to go in December and live with the crowds, but at least you're less likely to die of heatstroke while queuing for rides.

The most vulnerable months for hurricanes in Florida are June through November.
