Recommend a flight simulator for laptop

I don't know the first thing about gaming, not even sure if I'm in the right place here to ask! But want to get a flight simulator game as a present for someone who is equally clueless about these things so hope to get some advice here. So any advice on a game for flying planes and also whats the deal with joysticks??

He/she will want a flight stick, Saitek X52 is good starter. There are better and there are worse.

Well I had a look at that Sailtek X52 dreamers75 mentioned and that might be a bit on the pricey side, Would I get anything half decent for aroung €40 or €50??

Also just a heads up, a good flight simulator won’t play well on just any laptop. Would need a pretty good laptop, or a pc which would be cheaper.

Says something that the best commercial simulator was released in 2006.

Agree that most laptops doing the rounds cannot even handle this 12 year old game.

Imagine Sony operated like this with the playstation.

Should also consider X-plane 11, I much prefer it to fsx (uninstalled it years ago and never looked back) and from what I read it performs a lot better too. Also has an excellent community with tons of freeware scenery.

I think XPlane is the FS of choice these days.

You'll want some sort of controller by the way, they are practically unplayable with a keyboard and mouse. You can get some relatively cheap joysticks + throttles on amazon.
