Video gone viral, gave license to lad bible so not sure

Hi,

I posted a video on reddit that went viral pretty quick, still get notifications. Lad bible contacted me among other agencies to license it,I'm not a dope so know well to read the Ts and Cs and how times important.

The video is great and real wholesome and really mainstream, they said they will use it and pitch it to other partners and networks however I'm unsure where to go from here.

It's only been 10 hours but in online world that's a lifetime. How do I know if they are really trying to promote it,they've put it on their FB and that's it,is it possible they would make me sign an agreement for rights and say theyll sell and then not sell it,

Has anyone done this with them before?

I'm not asking for legal advice.

I posted it on the cool pics and video forum to see if anyone had a video go viral with lad bible before and how it went.

I've emailed them but they haven't come back to me yet

Have they offered you some kind of money? pay per click or something if not what the issue?

Yes a revenue share split between us, didn't say pay per click but how the proposed it was they would license it to people,pitch it to shows etc

LadBibile make a lot of money doing this exact thing. I would be vary weary about how much they will actually promote it for you rather than use it themselves. If it is already on their page surely you have given them permission?

Yes there was a contract signed and was pretty straight forward, nothing really hidden that would screw me over.

They want to make money so surely they will actively promote it?

Yes I gave permission and like I said surely they want to benifit from it so will actively promote it?

Of course they will but you have signed the contract so there is not much you can do if they don't.

Promotion is a very difficult thing to deal with in a contract, technically if they email that to a few of their partners thats probably sufficient but you can't force them to phone them and really sell it or go the extra mile

They will post it on their FB page in the hope that lots of their followers will click on 'share', thereby drawing more users to their FB page and increasing their ad revenue.

Your interpretation of their suggestion that they will 'actively promote it' seems to be that they will help you harvest royalty payments from other websites. It sounds to me like a carrot to deceive you into giving them free use of the video on a false promise. As soon as they get hold of another video to use as clickbait, yours will be history.

The do a revenue share of 70/30 to the owners of the video and pitch it too other sites and networks, others have contacted me and when I'd advised of the ladbible having license they said that they(lad bible) had contacted them already about so guess all is good

They don't have to pay to post a link to a YouTube vid, but they do have to pay if they want to post the video itself on their own page, so they get the benefit of hits.

Just an update in case people want to know, the lad bible have been in touch and have licensed the video to some shows in germany and australia, so they were working behind the scenes.

Im not going into specifics but yes its a very decent amount just for these licenses alone and others will be the same i assume.

Nah theres no money in them videos anymore, since camera phones the market is saturated

But anyway im happy, ill keep you posted on if theres any further developments
