Things to look out for with used hybrids

    Hi,
    I was looking at used Honda Insights, 2010 (€6K and 52K miles) or 2011 (€7K and 128 K miles).
I know very little about hybrids, from a lay-man's perspective, the fact that there are 2 engines - does this mean that more can go wrong?
Does the Honda Insight have a good reputation for reliablity?
Is there a guide on what to look out for with regard to the battery part of a hybrid when buying a used car?
Finally, do the above Insights look like good value?
    Thanks in advance
    GG

I Drive an Insight, Picked mine up back in October 17 for €5000 with ~90K miles. UK spec which is nice as the majority you see around are imports, so heated seats, auto lights/wipers and privacy glass in the back.

Reliable as cars come really I have just needed to do the usual servicing and from what I understand the Honda hybrid system is simpler than in a Prius etc. so should be as reliable if not quite as efficient. Many in the US with 200K miles and above. I average 54mpg in mainly rural driving with a short 3km city commute 5 days a week.

Small petrol tank which can be annoying really wont do a return trip from Cork to Dublin without a stop.

Only issue i have is the rear brake caliper sticks slightly, been told this can be an issue with all hybrids due to you using the breaks less than you would in a standard car because of the regen.

I'd happily keep this for years but will most likely move on soon as it is a bit small for me and my hobbies. Will always recommend them as a car though! :pac:
