What is the safest road to travel to Thurles from Cork. Is there any way of avoiding the jack lynch tunnel? Any help and advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The M8 would be the best road.

As for avoiding the Jack Lynch Tunnel, that depends on where in Cork you're coming from.

Ballincollig-Thurles is best done via the N40 South Ring, Jack Lynch Tunnel and M8.

Any other routes will be a lot slower and will significantly add to your journey time.
