Friend is wanting to know a question I could not answer. He had his iPad working off my android work mobile hotspot in work and was still connected in the evening at home without knowing and he is said to have accessed Po##hub for 20 mins or so on the iPad ... is this flagged in his work as it was connected through the mobile hotspot.

It won't flag in his work if it is on your phone. It will flag in your work.

His phone isn’t connected to any network other then the network provider... so they automatically flag all NSFW visits to the contract holder? Interesting

Could well be, but its unlikely to have been directly linked to the company intranet if a porn site wasn't blacklisted by default

I'd say the company only monitors traffic on the intranet and the mobile internet is administered by the telecom provider

If its a company IPAD your friend could be in trouble for using it to access porn sites purely from a security standpoint, the risk of malware is too high but the fact that the site wasn't blocked indicates that the company isn't actively tracking this

It'll be itemised as just data usage on the bill. Don't worry about it.

He states the iPad is his own personal and the mobile was issued by his work. He forgot that it was connected to the mobile hotspot from during the day as it normally connects automatically to his home WiFi. When it was connected at home he never questioned it until after.

So its his private device using his own employers bandwith by mistake. In his own free time. He'll be grand. They probably won't find out but they might be annoyed if he is connecting non company devices to his work phone at all. When you're on a shared WiFi connection it increases security risk, passwords and data can potentially be taken from the work phone and a third party could gain access to the work intranet remotely.

It depends on what kind of work he does. If he's a pizza delivery driver. No big deal. If he's a financial controller in a big multinational, he shouldn't be connecting external devices to to his work phone without clearing it with IT first.

Nothing that important. They know about the other devices and many others also have them. I know the laptop is all geared up with security but the mobile isn’t. They only want documents scanned before he upload them to the server.
Sounds like he will be grand but he just wanted to confirm with the wisdom of the board.
