Lawn Mower Power Cord

While I was out cutting the grass in the back garden I accidentally backed the electric lawn mower over its own power cord, thus cutting it in two obviously. Stupid thing to do but there you go.

Question is if the entire unit now has to be binned, or can a new power cord be fitted? I wouldn't tackle anything involving electricity myself, but if it can be done do I need a proper electrician or would any decent DIY/handyman be OK with this?

You can normally buy them, they may be brand specific where they connect to the lawnmower and no tools should be required as it just connects in to connection on the lawnmower, here's one for a Flymo...

Thanks, but I should have pointed out that it isn't a removable cord like for let's say a kettle or a laptop, it's integrated into the mower itself. Were it a simple matter of just sourcing a new cord I would have done that immediately.

Something like this can fix the wire. Cheap & easy to replace. No need for an electrician.

Please also buy an RCD plug too. You can actually harm yourself running through the cable
