Getting to Tampa

My mother will be travelling to Tampa in October. Apparently she will change planes at Charlotte. She can't find out if her luggage would transfer automatically between the two planes or if she would have to retrieve her luggage and go through security again to recheck it for the second flight. Anyone here know?

Is it booked as one ticket / PNR on the one airline?

She says it is the same airline from Dublin to Charlotte and Charlotte to Tampa.

American Airlines so, not a problem, bags go straight through as you will have done pre clearance in Dublin

Assuming the booking is conventional and not some mess cobbled together by a low rent aggregator; bags will be checked through

    https://www.dublinairport.com/at-the-airport/passenger-information/us-preclearance-facility

"In addition, this benefits onward connecting passengers in the US who will have their baggage checked through to their final destination."
