My wife finished a back to work scheme and was hoping to go to a back to education scheme but as my earnings are over the threshold she doesn't qualify for any allowance.

So currently she's looking for a job but is there any point on signing on the jobs seekers allowance knowing that it's means tested an will get nothing.

She got the forms and an meeting with a case officer but they're looking for all my bank details, credit union accounts payslips for the last few months and a possible interview.

There's a lot of paperwork involved and the end result is nothing to be gained

Is any benefit in going through all that, is there anything to be lost by not doing this?

If she doesn't sign on she won't get PRSI credits which may affect her state pension further down the line.
