VTOS when not on Social welfare proper

Hi, i was wondering if i could get some advice about VTOS.
So my situation is i am returning to college to do 2 years for Leaving Cert as a mature student of 37. I am unemployed for a number of years minding our 3 young children while my partner has been working full time. She has been getting Family Income Supplement for about 3 years and i am down as a dependent.
She is non unemployed as of this week due to her job been unable to allow her part time hours while i return to college. So there is no more FIS payment and i am not a dependent anymore i think.

I wanted to ask on here about our options before we went to social welfare. About 6 months ago i tried to apply for job seekers but the nice lady told me that if i was going back to college then its clear im not a job seeker so i couldn't apply so i stayed on as a dependent on the FIS. The thing we are worried about now is if im not in receipt of a social welfare payment at this moment or a dependent then what do i do about a VTOS payment?

Is there something we can apply for as a couple with 3 children to help us out while i attend college and she looks for new work? At the moment we are so stressed and im thinking i should just scrap idea for college and allow my partner to return to her past fulltime job as with her wage and fis payment we were getting about €640 a week.

    Any advice is welcomed

So, if I read you right, you're telling us that your partner has just voluntarily walked away from her employment, thereby ending her weekly wage and her FIS entitlement? This means that she's not going to be eligible for JA/JB for the first 9 weeks because she voluntarily left her job.

You won't be eligible for JA because you're going back to school and you may not be eligible for the VTOS payment because you're not currently getting any Welfare payment.

So how do the five of you propose to live on zero income for the next 9 weeks?
