    A little info please..
I will be 65 in a few months . My wife is 69. She gets the contributory pension. I will get the same pension at 66. I am out of work a few years...sort of retirement.. and have already claimed the 9 months social welfare payment.
I don't claim for anything else.
My question is can I/my wife claim increase for qualified adult until I reach 66 yrs.
I have an income now of E 275/week which will end in the new year and will reduce to E 80 /week. I have savings of E 27k.
Has anyone here applied for and got this payment and whats involved in the process.
    Thanks.

Yes. It's means tested but you should still be eligible for a small weekly payment and can apply for an increase when your income falls to €80 a week.
"For most social welfare payments your adult dependant cannot have gross weekly earnings or income (before tax and PRSI deductions) of more than €310. If your adult dependant earns less than €100 you will get a full Increase for a Qualified Adult (IQA). If your adult dependant earns between €100 and €310 you will get a reduced rate of IQA (sometimes called a tapered rate of IQA). If your adult dependant is earning more than €310 you will not get an IQA.

Get your wife to apply asap, this is the FORM to use.

When your weekly income falls, you will need to ask them to re-run your means test so your QA payment can be increased.
