I haven’t posted in ages but I’m absolutely crippled with anxiety, it’s to the point that I’m on the verge of not being able to cope any more.

    Hi OP.

I can totally relate to you.
I have suffered anxiety for about 5 years now.
It's not health related but was triggered by a very stressful job I had and a tyrant of a boss.
I absolutely know the feeling of being in the throes of acute anxiety.
Well done for having the focus to post here.
You know you need to see a GP ASAP.
Even if that's Caredoc in the morning.
Long term you need to try find a really compassionate therapist and if they don't feel right for you move on.
You'll know the right one when you 'click'.
For tonight, distract yourself in whatever you find comfort in.
For me, that's reading for example.
I could read for hours and my anxiety goes right out of my head.
Whatever works for you- a box set, looking through a photo album. Just to get yourself out of your head.
Long term exercise is great for anxiety. I admit I'm lazy but when I do put in the effort, even a 2km walk I feel great after so make exercise your goal for autumn. Start swimming, take yoga class.
But tomorrow please call a doctor.
It can get better. I quit that job and started (I hope) my dream job last month.

I think cognitive therapy is in order

Cognitive therapy as above and a radical acceptance of death. We are all going to die. Mind yourself as best you can without futile grasping, and deep down accept that life is fleeting and precarious. Accept that truth and then live your wonderful life. (Hoka Hey! :) )
