    hi all,

I am looking to attach head rests to a rear bench seat that never had head rests installed ( its a hatch back ).

I was thinking of simply screwing the prongs of the headrest to the seat back using something like this. 20161110202652180.jpg

But I am thinking it would look a bit naff. I am actually thinking plastic tubes of some sort would be better still. Would anyone have any idea where I would get something equivalent that looks a bit better ?

Do you want them for cosmetic or safety reasons? Because safety would require a few more of the u mounts and definitely not a plastic pipe.

safety really - and my idea of a plastic pipe is not a straw, its more along the lines of a hard plastic cover that is securely screwed to the seat back.

The pipe would be an extra layer of failure and you still need the u shackles to mount it. Get some of the u shackles and get something to cover the back of the bench

What's the car? Would you be able to source a replacement rear seat set with headrests already installed?

    What he said ^^^

If it's safety you want this would be the best way, you'll have a solution that's been designed and tested properly.

This sounds very unsafe. What car is it?

my reading of that is: some headrest is better than no headrest. Not that a a retro fitted headrest is dangerous.
Its a 30+ year old car. Its not as safe as a modern car - a fact classic drivers have to accept.

Not if it becomes a battering ram .

Were they ever fitted to any of that model?
Seat frames often had holes for headrests even if they were not standard on that model and its possible to retrofit them with proper units.
