Apple CarPlay

    So not sure if this is the right forum so mods feel free to move if necessary.
    basically, I have an iphone7 and a 2018 VWTroc which is compatable wiht Apple CarPlay.
    When I first got the phone almost 2years ago, my car at the time didnt have CarPlay and Apple had added a lot of spurious apps to all new phones, so I deleated anything I didn't need/couldn't use, assuming I could download them again if I wanted to in future.
    The weird thing is now when I search the phone or look in the app store, i don't get any results for the CarPlay app. I'd like to be able to use it with the new car but I'm a bit stumped.
    Any ideas?

    There's no CarPlay app. If your vehicle has the technology as part of its infotainment system, simply connect your phone to one of the USB ports using a Lightning cable.

    If there's more than one USB port in the car you may have to use a specific one. You may also need to use a MFi (Made for iPhone) certified cable instead of a 2 euro cable you got at the petrol station.

    If your car has Wireless CarPlay you'll be able to pair it by going to Settings > General > CarPlay.

    In either case, once linked to the car you'll see the Apple CarPlay interface on the car's infotainment display. Hope this helps.

    Thanks! I must have imagined there being an app for carplay :)
    I think the car dealer said something about using a cable (can't remember if this was for the first time or always) I'll root out a proper apple cable and see how that goes. I think there is also a separate VW app which has possibly confused me.
