    Hi all,
I have a 2011 Passat CC and  i think one of the ABS sensors is gone as my dashboard is lit up like a christmas tree. Strangly enough this happened a day after i brough it in for an NCT.
Is this a big job to fix, any idea of cost? I am in Waterford if anyone have recommendations for a garage.

    Thanks

It's not a big job but it's not DIY for many so thread moved to main forum for recommendations

Sensor itself is not expensive, maybe a clean will be enough (usually it's best to just swap it out)
Getting it out can be tricky so you're probably looking at 50 or so for the part and 50-100 for the labour.

Contact a few local mechs, they can all do the job, and get quotes.

Was getting the timing belt done in the vw dealership, who surprisingly do it and the water pump for a decent price, but they wanted €140 for the diagnostics for the abs warning light!

Seems that the sensor failing is common in vw passats/ cc's, and usually the rear left one for some reason.

But a YouTube video I saw made a replacement look fairly simply.

Can anyone convince me not to go at it with a regular Jack?

And would I be daft to assume without a diagnostic?

I'd buy a diagnostic tool from ali express before spending 140 for a simple plug in...

Its probably best to have it diagnosed. Cheaper OBD diagnostics will only read engine codes, not abs codes.

Find a good indy mechanic, they will diagnose and replace (assuming it is a sensor) for less than 140

Pretty common and an easy fix. You will need a diagnosis to find which one is faulty. ABS sensor failed on my 2011 Passat, got the part fitted by my Indy for €100.

VW wanted €500 for a new sensor and wheel bearing (there was nothing wrong with the bearing).

100 is grand! Getting bushings done anyway

Just had the same thing go in my CC & was quoted 150 for it, will check out a local mechanic for a better price though based on this thread
