    Hi,
Take a look at the psoriasis thread. Nail psoriasis has been mentioned a few times recently.
You shouldl try dovonex. It's available without a prescription but you might have to ask for it. A pharmacist has to give it to you, not the retail staff in the pharmacist.
I have found it good for nail psoriasis on my toes.

How long are you taking mtx? If over 6 months with no improvement then you'd need to start looking at biologics.

I've used Dovonex in the past and didn't help me much plus I am not a fan of using steroids long term.

I've gone on to develop Psoriatic Arthritis and am on a biologic drug for that called Stelara and that helps with psoriasis too.

Was it a dermatologist who prescribed the mtx or GP? If you haven't seen a dermatologist and mtx isn't working, get referred to one to look at going on a biologic.

Thank you for your reply. My gp put me on mtx 1 year now no different. I'm waiting to see a dermatologist.

Dovonex has no steroids, you are thinking of Dovobet which is like dovonex but with additional steroids.

I have had decent results with dovonex for my nails, posted about it in the main thread. I am going to try my UVB light on the nails too.

Yes you're right there. I've used both in the past. Neither did much for me. I just put up with it but luckily my psoriasis was never terribly severe.

Hi Brian, I was talking to you in the psoriasis thread. I was speaking to my uncle today who suffered terribly with psoriasis on his skin and nails and he told me he got great relief from biologics. I can't remember which one he was on. As I mentioned, I am on humira for psoriasis of the hands and feet (no nail involvement) and psoriatic arthritis. It has made a huge difference. I couldn't walk a few years ago because of how bad my feet were.

I'm sorry to hear it is getting you down. I know how it feels to be embarassed because of psoriasis. During secondary school my hands were covered in rash and I hated going in everyday. Take solace from the fact that medication for inflammatory disorders has really advanced in recent years and a good dermatologist should be able to figure out the proper treatment.

    All the best.
