    Dear Irish Water,

Currently, you are switching off the Mains Water in Tulla, Co. Clare ( Ref: CLA024917 ) each night from 10pm to 6am. This switch off time is too early for a lot of households (especially those houses with no attic tank or a small attic tank) so I'd like to ask if you can please delay this switch off each night until 12 midnight?

    Many thanks.

    Hi odeamichael,

Thank you very much for your feedback.

These restrictions are in place to ensure supply to the area during the daytime and unfortunately it is necessary to have restrictions in place at these times to achieve this.

These restrictions have been put in place to protect the water supply and we have tried to minimize any inconvenience caused as much as possible.

We are constantly monitoring reservoir levels and as soon as there are any improvements, we will reassess the situation.

    Kind regards,
    Niamh

    Dear Irish Water,

My baby is now 2 1/2 months old. From the time she was 4 weeks, we have lost our water every night from 10pm-9am in Tulla. We also have a 2 and 3 year old. Between nappy changes, soiled bed sheets and clothes and stomach bugs (with diarrhoea and vomiting), 6 weeks of nightly water restrictions have been extremely difficult.

In two weeks, my elderly parents are coming to visit from the US. When I booked their flights, I had no idea the restrictions would continue so long. We have one bathroom in our house and think it will be challenging for them to use buckets from the bath to flush the toilet, wash hands etc. throughout the night (as we have been doing all these weeks).

I understand you are trying to replenish the water supply. But could you please turn the water off at midnight instead of 10pm? This would at least give us a little relief. Many of our neighbours are equally upset at these ongoing restrictions but perhaps they have not written as yet. Please do not fob us off with a standard reply indicating that these restrictions must remain in place exactly as they are. Surely you could give us just two extra hours each night which would make life a little easier for a lot of people.

Many thanks for your understanding in this matter.

    Hi daytonbird,

Thank you for your query and we sincerely apologise for the delay in responding.

We do understand your concerns; however, water conservation works are necessary to ensure continuous day time supply to your area. Irish Water is constantly monitoring reservoir levels and as soon as the situation improves, we will reassess our water conservation measures and update our website accordingly.

In the meantime we will certainly note your feedback and pass it onto the relevant department.

    Kind regards,
    Louise

    Dear Irish Water,

Another 3 weeks has passed since I first wrote to you about the sever water restrictions at Mains Water in Tulla, Co. Clare ( Ref: CLA024917 ). Each night from 10pm until after 8am we lose our mains water completely and it's a terrible inconvenience to our home, and to all Tulla homes, that has been going on now since early July.

I heard elsewhere that you were going to install an automatic valve with a timer to perform these nightly shutdowns without any human intervention. If so, can you please set this valve timer to allow us water until midnight. These extra 2 hours of water would greatly reduce the stress being caused each evening now for almost 2 months!

    Many thanks.

As the reservoir levels are still under pressure, these ongoing restrictions are necessary to ensure the supply for everyone in the area. It is important to have the restrictions for this many hours so as to help supply recover and night time hours were chosen to attempt to minimize disruptions as much as possible.

We are constantly reviewing the situation in Tulla and if any improvements are seen, we will be in a position to alter/halt these restrictions.

Please be assured that we also want normal supply to resume for all those affected, and these works are to help improve the situation as soon as possible.

    Kind regards,
    Niamh

Do you know if the automatic valve with timer has been successfully installed at the Tulla reservoir?

    Hi odeamichael,
Do you know if the automatic valve with timer has been successfully installed at the Tulla reservoir?
Apologies for the delay with my response, I was looking into this matter for you.

Network changes, such as the valve installation, have been made to better manage these restrictions and Irish Water are consistently monitoring the scheme to see if the nightly restrictions can be reduced.

As previously advised, these restrictions are necessary to ensure daytime supply in the region and as soon as the situation improves, alterations to these water conservation measures can be made.

Apologies again for the continued disruptions and any inconvenience caused.

    Kind regards,
    Niamh
