Was this just limited to the hotter climates?

Has it been sorted here? Like a software update etc,or was that hogwash and it's just a bad battery, can 30kw owners shed me some light please, I'm gonna invest soon in a ev,and tbh the lack of negativity around d leafs has me suspicious ,is the 24kw a better version?

    Thanks in advance

There is indeed a software fix for the issue with the L30 battery issue, which seems to have been an incorrect reading rather than actual battery degradation. From the LeafSpy outputs people have posted, it does appear to work!

Personally I love my L24 and would recommend it to anybody (who has the usage pattern it suits). I would highly recommend going for the Tekna/SVE to get all the gadgets and slightly more luxurious leather...

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

There's an 8 year warranty on the L30 battery. Car is not going to be worth an awful lot after that. I wouldn't worry about it.

TBH the lack of negativity isn’t something to be suspicious about. It’s more a mark of a good car.

As far as I know the only real known issue is a problem with the rear axle on *some* cars (regardless of 24 or 30). It seems random as to which cars are affected, but if you get one that is affected, the rear passenger side tire will wear unevenly. This can lead to having to replace a tire sooner than you’d like, but it may also raise a problem at the time of NCT.

The axle issue used to mean a whole new unit was required (free under warranty, expensive out of warranty) but I’ve read recently about non-warranty fixes using shims for a fraction of the cost of a whole new axle. Can’t remember the exact amount, but sub €500 anyway. And the majority of Leafs do not suffer from this issue. A visual inspection by someone who knows what they’re looking for will let you know if your car has the issue or not. As I mentioned in another post, spend the €80 for a health check at a Nissan dealership for peace of mind on this and anything else that might bother you about the car.

Apart from that, there’s nothing negative about the car that I can think of. The sat nav isn’t great, but I use my phone and google maps to solve that. Otherwise, it’s genuinely hard to find fault.

There’s the usual EV things like range awareness and the state of the public network, but that’s not specific to a Leaf.

I have an L30 which according to Leafspy has an SOH constantly fluctuating between high 92% and 86%. I think my max range is approx 160km with the GOM normally displaying between the 150s and 180s. Leafspy also reports about 25kwh capacity at 97.7% SOC which is a lot lower that an expected capacity or approx 28kmh but I suppose correlates with the reported SOH.

I've read about the software update but didn't hear of anyone in this country getting the update. Would be interested in hearing from anyone who got the update and whether it actually improved the max range of their car as well as the reported leafspy data.

Not from this country, but just in-case you didn’t see it, here’s an example of before and after the update - https://m.imgur.com/ojusd95

So the upgrade improved the SOH by approx. 4% which is less that the variations in reported SOH I am currently getting from Leafspy. I would have thought it would have a much higher impact.

My SOH % (2016 L30 with just over 60k kms) can vary by up to 2% in a day which makes me wonder how much of that 4% SOH increase can be attributed to the software update.

I must contact Nissan Ireland for an update on this software fix. However, I'd be surprised if they have anything to report!

Would love to see your before and after SOH output if you do get the update applied! Keep debating trading my L24 for a L30 but wonder about this issue...
