    Its so annoying.

I use it as a sat nav and its giving instructions using street names it cannot pronounce and that dont match whats on the signage for the street.

It happened a few years back as well.

Why cant the Gaelgoirs leave Google Maps alone?

It's probably more to do with all streets having two names. I doubt Conradh are Google's largest lobby group.

Streets that were previously named in English on it have now become named in Irish, despite never being referred to in Irish in the areas.

And its across all devices, its not just my phone playing up, if I go look at Google Maps in Chrome on my laptop its the same.

Maybe they've copped "oh all streets have two names, let's rectify that"

Nope - its kind of random (in my area anyway).

There is one example where there are two streets with the same name (its one estate) and one has the name in English and one in Irish and the Irish translation is actually wrong. Another street a bit away has also been changed to the wrong translation (in fact, it should have the name of the previous one I mentioned there).

It looks like some eejit was just messing drunk tbh.

I have reported the ones Ive come across so hopefully Google update them.

Also - on another I found a person has requested blurring out the street name in English on the street sign.

It’s because most of the time the people using google maps to find a street or location are tourists and not irish so we need to be sure to confuse the fcük out of them to be sure they don’t return ever again. The Garkgoirs have our best interests at heart.
