Sick leave if finishing employment

Hi, looking for advise, my partner recently gave birth and is due to return to work the end of next month. We recently bought a house which is over an hour away from our workplace, So she advised her work that she will not be returning after Maternity leave finishes and will be looking for a position in her field closer to home, Her boss was fine with this and just needs her to hand in her notice in a few weeks.

    So here is our situation

Unfortunately my partner has been suffering with post natal depression, and her previously minor Fibromyalgia issue has been heightened since the birth of our child.

If she is not in a position to go back in September is there anything that can be done? can she claim sick leave even if not employed? I am pretty worried about both her health and our situation after this leave finishes. Any help is grateful thanks.

Sorry I didn’t see this. Yes she most certainly can apply for Illness Benefit even if she has left her employment. She needs to get the application form at her GPs office and submit it to SW.
She can get the Benefit for up to and including 2 years.
