Mercruiser 3.0

Hi all, My 2006 Maxum mercruiser 3.0 won't idle when warm. Cold starts fine, but after a few mins out on the water she cuts out if I throttle back to stop. Then it is hard to get going again, I have to throttle forward nearly 2/3, then it starts and revs hard, the engine sounds great. But if I then throttle back to engage forward it cuts out again unless I move quickly. Any ideas? Dirt in carb? Weak coil? I did have a power steering leak and there was oil everywhere, I have cleaned the air filter.....any ideas appreciated as I'm not that experienced at fixing these issues....

Could be any number of things, maybe start with running some carb cleaner through it, check the vacuum pipes and automatic choke if you have no luck you might need a carb rebuild also worth checking your spark plugs and leads and the distributor cap.

So I replaced, the distributor cap, rotor, leads and plugs. No real change. Tried a new coil, no change. Ran carb cleaner through it. Running a bit better but still won't idle below 3000 rpm.....I have the tks carb do seems to be very little to adjust. I decided to replace the fuel filter. When I opened the fuel pump there was no filter inside. I have the boat three years and assume d it had a filter. So I put one in but now I'm wondering what to do next? Could I have water in the carb, dirt in the carb.....I'm worn out? What are the next steps? Does anyone know a mechanic who would come to look at it. It's in Cavan.....

With no filter I'd guess you have a blocked jet might be worth stripping down the carb or use a compressor and try to blow them clear.
