    Hi all,

Just wondering has anyone bought an Ipad from this site before? Did you have to pay customs on it?

Never heard of the website but had a look.

I wouldn’t be worried about customs as they appear to be EU based.

However I would be worried about the products. Prices are too cheap for me and reviews do not look genuine.

“What’s in the box” also does not show a charger and cable.

Either these are reconditioned products or fakes. I would personally avoid and just buy from Apple.

Bought an ipad and delivered 3/4 days later. Brand new sealed, well packaged, no customs, regular emails, tracking, uk adaptor and zero issues. Would have no issues ordering again. Go.for.it

this site has been around for years. think that there are the occasional issue but most people seem happy with it. I have ordered stuff myself and had no issues.

They are a legit website. I bought a Oneplus One from them back in the day when you could only buy them through invites.

The delivery time was only 1/2 weeks as far as I remember. You do not pay customs on these items either which is great.

    Definitely legit.

Purchased a few phones and tabs from them in the last year or two. Great prices, about a week for delivery.

No customs, all orders shipped within the EU.

OK that's fair enough but for me the prices would just make me cautious.

For example, I'm interested in an Apple Watch.

The 42mm Nike Plus 3 Series is €409 on Apple but Eglobal are selling if for €327 which is a huge difference and I wonder how they do it.

You have to remember you're not purchasing from rip off Ireland. Different markets. According to their website they source the goods from all over the world. Seems to be a lot of positive posts on Boards. I'll know soon enough if i made a mistake :o

    Disagree with this.

Apple prices are Apple prices and Ireland is not dearer on the Apple Store than other countries. An Apple watch would not be €82 cheaper in any other country's Apple store.

Do not compare to US prices as they exclude taxes.

Electronics are often reasonably priced in Ireland compared to other countries.

You'll get an Apple or Samsung product cheaper in the UK than you will here. Ireland is a rip off! Check Argos they are trying to charge 1100 euro for a 128gb S9+ LOL

Anyway i'm not talking about Apple, i'm talking about all kinds of tech. A lot of people on Boards have saved huge money on camera's etc buying from this company.

    Yeah, 100% disagree with this

Ireland retailers are showrooms before shopping online.

I wasn't talking about actual shops.

I meant buying from Apple etc.

Prices are nearly always cheaper online than stores.

I'd still be wary as to why Eglobal are cheaper with new products that Apple themselves are.

eGlobal Central are somehow avoiding paying tax through a loophole and also benefit from the cheaper cost of goods from the Asian market. This is known as the grey market.

    Btw, Irish prices are HORRENDOUS!

Edit: Just on another note, the prices are not too dissimilar from the US market which is where the majority of these goods are purchased. You can buy a MacBook Pro for hundreds of euro cheaper in the states.

Anybody see any warranty issues buying from this site?
I know Apple warranties are global however if you have to provide a receipt for warranty would goods intended for the Asian market be covered here ?

Once again let me clarify what I mean by Irish prices.

If you're buying off Apple you're not paying that much more off Apple Ireland than you would be from Apple.nl or Apple.de orany other European country, and the difference of €10-20 is down to VAT rates.
So it's not down to "Rip-off Ireland".

Also buying in the States is cheaper but advertised prices exclude state and federal taxes plus you have exchange rate costs brings the saving down.

I understand the grey market and I would be wary of it.

Saw this on HukD - Apple Watch Nike+Series 3 is €335 from Nike.com right now, might interest you!

I noticed this in E global's terms and conditions. Seems good if they stick to them :

" 17.1 To simplify the process of buying internationally, eglobal central choose to handle the process of custom clearance for customers. By purchasing products through eglobal central, you authorise eglobal central to make arrangements for clearance of customs on your behalf for the products in your order. As importing products from overseas can be a hassle for most of our customers, we organise this process for you. We then provide you with fast local shipping to deliver the goods to your door. As a result, prices shown on this website are the final total you have to pay to have the order delivered to your door, without any hidden charges and customs delay.

17.2 After 3 month of receiving the goods and clearing customs, eGlobal Central will not be held responsible for any custom related fees."

    Just another quick question.

    The 2018 Ipad 32gb is €305 and the 128gb is €398.

I would like to get the 128gb but it is out of my budget, would the 2017 Ipad 128gb be worth buying which is €335. Would there be much difference in this vs the 2018 model, much difference in speed etc. I will not be using the apple pencil so pencil support in the 2018 model does not matter to me.

    Thanks in advance.

You are buying grey market imports when buying from them usually. They are based in Hong Kong. Even when they ship from Hong Kong they seem to avoid taxes somehow.
There are some horror stories around from people trying to return stuff to them when faulty etc. I have only ever used them once buying a camera lens a few years ago. It was less than half the price of shops here. Was posted from Hong Kong and arrived in about 5 days without issue. Brand new item and still working perfectly to this day.

I would agree that the process with returns may not be ideal - although never had to return anything myself.
many big companies have warranties that are global and return procedures that don't depend on the reseller however.
Also definitely there is something strange going on with the vat.
But this has been working for years and still is.

    I ordered a Gear S3 watch on 13/08

    Dispatched 15/08

Arrived in UK this morning, being delivered Monday by DPD

They must be slow with phones.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,209 ✭✭✭maximoose

I think from the email saying they are packing the order, to getting a tracking number was less than 24 hrs. Shouldn't be too long I'd say!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,587 ✭✭✭Micky 32

I got another email saying it's now dispatched with a tracking number. I'm a little concerned it might be a second hand phone even though on the webpage i ordered the phone it says they are 100% new.

In the email it states : "Please note if necessary the travel adapter (charger) maybe bubble wrapped separately with your order"

So does this mean no original boxing so it's a used phone? I'm hoping it's because they know the phone doesn't have an irish adaptor in the box so their sending one separately, but wishful thinking... :-/

I would say this is the most like situation with grey imports as the Asian market would have asian plugs in the box.

Let us know how it is when it comes, considering ordering the Ipad 2018 with apple pencil for 409, a bargain.

€369, apple pencil retails for €99. A saving of €60, may not seem that big of a difference but it is.

Do you not know anyone working for Apple who could get these for you on their friends and family discount of 17%, both would work out @ €390 and you'd have the standard EU warranty rather than having to go to belfast if there an issue with either in the future.
