Hi guys im needing to upgrade on the audio on my A-B car, one of the speakers blew and the radio has jammed a cd so im going to do a budget upgrade, i have the head unit sorted but speakers are a minefield , i need to buy a pair of 6.5 inch speakers. Are there any "go-to" budget speakers? I will be buying online, im not looking for anything mindblowing just better than OEM with clear audio. Any advice would be great thanks

Just get some working ones from a scrapyard.

I would but im spending a bit more time in this car lately and the upgrade would make it a bit less tedious. Also the last few trips to the scrapyard prices were all over the place, budget jvcs on amazon come in at £19 i could imagine this wouldnt be much more that a set from the scrapyard

You’re going on the assumption that standard speakers are rubbish though? They often aren’t, and going for basic aftermarket stuff is often a step backwards. I know some of the later K11 Micras had some really good speakers. Not sure about the K12 but at least you wouldn’t be messing around with wiring or hoping that they’d fit.

Standard speakers are basic blaupunkt , that seem quite light/fragile too another reason im not really interested in scrap replacements but i get where you are coming from.

Get something with a shallow mounting depth, low rms wattage 35-45 should be fine and a high sensitivity rating 90db or above.

Something like jvc or alpine's entry level speakers would be perfect for the job but measure the old speakers first as some 6.5 speakers can be slightly larger than 16.5cm and closer to 17cm.

I'm not sure about the micra but I know in some older civics this can mean the difference between fitting and not fitting. Measurements for the new speakers can be got online.

If you don't want to cut the speaker loom in the car you can cut the connection off the old speaker and solder the new speaker connections on to it.

Also i'd avoid secondhand speakers from a scrapyard as most cars have windows missing and are exposed to the elements so you don't know what you are getting.

You will probably be charged enough anyway so it will probably be a false economy when a new set isn't that expensive.
