When do ye all start introducing meal to Weanlings? Usually sell them off in early October here so will probably start shortly. What do ye all use. Beef nuts or crunch ?

Start off the bulls on some of that fancy crunch for the first few days here to get them going on it and and a handy stock mix after that. Find it hard to get them to eat nuts from the creep. I don't give the heifers anything until they are weaned and 1.5/2 kg of a high protein nut for them then until a few weeks before they get out next spring.

All mine on creep already , mainly down to the feed situation. I started for a couple of weeks on a high protein calf ration and then changed over to a weanling but. Nuts are usually a bit better with crows but this year they aren’t fussy.

I started last week feeding bulls. Seaperated them from hefiers. Always start about now but usually it takes a few weeks before they start on it but this year with the grass situation the started eating straight away. Usually just a cheap 16% nut. Hefiers get nothing till weaned.
