im 47 at the minute and just wondering is it too late to change ...
I do shift work with one of the american corporations and have been doing this job for 16 years so have a lot of experience ..
This year the company has offered to pay for masters and its got me thinking of doing it so i can get a decent day job with them ..
I still find working the nights very tough ..
Im just worried im a.seperated father of a 8 year
and want to spend as time as possible with him ..im afraid the masters would take up to much time ..
But sometimes im just so tired of the factory and im jealous of all my old work mates that have moved on ..
But then i think im 47 just stay at what im at for the next 15 years ..
plus if i leave shift i will lose the shift allowance ....ah decisions , decisions

masters or not could you not find a job thats not shift work?

id probably do the masters as he'll only be 11-12 when you finish, he'll not hold it against you and you'll be in a better position to see him once you get a new job.

Id would be looking for a day job in the area i work in and a lot of the positions look for a masters..in all fairness i could start looking a year into it as they would take that as consideration ..
But im worried about my age ..

The masters will take time, but if you are organised it shouldn't affect your time with your child, assuming you only see him sometimes.

    I did a masters + full-time job + part-time business... and got straight As. So it's doable.

You can still prioritise seeing your child.

You don't need to get an A in the masters, you just need the paper.

You're not too old. Go for it!

I did masters in UCC, finished in August. Its not to old. I'm the same age as you and I do not regret it. Looking to study further next year, hopefully a PhD.
