Was just asked if I had a dash cam in the car for Mrs. kceire’s car re-test.
I assume she would of asked me to turn it off if I said yes?

First time I’ve been asked this.

You are supposed to turn off dash cams and no pic/vids either.

Never been asked , but i turn it off anyway, but also noticed the camera pointing up to the sky when i get back it , the tester must give it a tap upwards.

Sign of the times I guess. Nearly everyone has a dashcam these days so I'd say it's going to become more common now to be asked to turn it off whenever you drop to the car in for repair, servicing or testing.

No recording is allowed the NCT center.
Same applies for viewing gallery and smartphone cameras.
I left mine on by accident, but they put a plastic glove over it.

Both mine and ms jou's cars have dashcams fitted. No tester ever bothered.

They won't have a choice with some cars having the built in cams

I wasnt asked but they plugged it out and broke off one of the little cable holders in doing so. I didn’t bother complaining as they’re a bunch of apes and it would have been a waste of time.

Surely there must be some way of tuning them off, and they’ll just ask the driver to do it. Even if there wasn’t, they could just stuck something over the lens.

possibly. but not if it was any part of a safety feature, automatic cruise, lane warning or breaking systems.

Which in that case would not actually record anything...
Such cameras are build into the windscreen or bumper and provide real time information to other systems like you mentionned, but don't actually record footage.

I forgot about mine. I don't think the tester noticed it.

These cameras don't produce the same kind of image you'd get from a regular video camera so it'd be useless as a dash cam, but looking at the one fitted in my own car it's very obvious it's there so I'd imagine they could just place a sticker over it if they're paranoid.

It's not paranoia. It's been able to do your job without everyone recording you and protecting your personal data.

no-one wants to have every minute of their working day being recorded and then being scrutinized by some keyboard warrior.

if you fail the NCT, then its most likely a valid reason, i rarely hear ppl complaining that they passed .. even though they know that there was a minor fault with their car.

I passed recently, even though my plates dont have the county written on them in Irish, they are non retro-reflective and on tyres that i believe were 1.5mm (since had then changed)

There are also cameras that point towards the driver to monitor the driver awareness. Tesla3 comes with camera that covers the whole interior of the car...

But you're not paying for the tester to be recorded.

I'm paying for electricity, but i'm not getting a video recording of the ESB guys at work.

What do you work at ? Can i turn up and record every moment of your day, and then anonymously comment about it ?

Recording people at work is just a di ck move by the snowflake generation who feel they they are entitled.

You can video the electrons coming into your house as much as you want. It is also a bit different from paying someone to install a cable in your house.

    I'm a porn performer

From the point of safety of the actors and the crew, you can't really. There should be plenty of footage of my work online though.

Grand so... let some randomer turn up, record you, and do so as they wish with the recording.
