Common drain going to council drain.

    Hi all
I am looking to move my soil pipe from the back of house to the side. The house is in rathfarnham in Dublin and was built in 1966.
As I understand it the foul water and rain water both go into a common pipe that runs at the back of my property about 5ft away from the back wall. This common drain pipe then goes into the council drain pipe at the end of the road.
I have asked for drawings off iw and sdcc but they only have drawings for the main drains out the front of the house under the road. They have said the common drain is not their drain and is privately owned between the properties that drain into it.

Anyway, I need to re connect the new soil stack into the common drain so does anyone have any technical insight into this ie drawings from that era?
The reason I’m moving the soil stack is that we are getting a patio put in, so all the pipes will be exposed so how’s the right time to do it.
The company putting down the patio have said they will do it but I just want to know myself how it should be done properly etc.

    Thanks all!

This is classed as a private system. You and everybody else that drains into it are responsible for it’s upkeep and repair.

I would engage an engineer or surveyor with experience in drainage to map out the existing network and design the where the new connection can be made on your land.

It’s a straight forward exercise normally.
