    Hi folks,

I am currently building an extension out my semi-detached house.
I have a satellite dish on the front of the house.

I also just got my attic converted and have run 2 White ARG6 024M cables from the front to the back of the attic under the flooring.
I plan on running them down to the extension out the back when it's almost ready.
Does anyone know if those cables are OK to run outside the house for a couple of meters from the attic to the roof of the extension or should I use different cables?

Also is there a distance limit on satellite cables?

Sounds like RG6 cable ,that should be fine for your needs.
024M,that could be the length ,there is usually a marking every metre.

There is signal attenuation on a cable so the longer it is you may get signal reduction but I have run cable 30-40 yards and had no issues .

you need proper cable for a satellite signal, it has to have an inner core for the signal and and an outer braid for earthing. this is the best, see attached, if your cable does not look like this its useless.

ARG6 (Antiference RG6) co-ax cable, while not CAI Certified, will do fine for a standard domestic install.

I have decent quality RG6 (Webro) for some shorter runs on my distribution system and its fine - and that's carrying stacked satellite and UHF signals. If the house isn't huge and you aren't using a stacker/destacker for two satellite IF feeds along one cable (really, just don't do this) you'll be fine
