Pumped cavity wall insulation

    Hi,

We are looking at pumping our cavity with the insulation before the winter comes, Detached bungalow in Co.Kildare, 100sq/m of wall including all the windows, doors etc. so real estimate should be about 70-80, 100mm cavity. I know this might not be the most efficient method but for now it's the only option within our budget

I've rang a few companies that do cavity and the quotes range from 10-20e per Sq/m, honestly did not think it'll be that much difference, anyway.

Totalhomes came in the cheapest at 9e+vat others were 15,20e and so on.

Would there be much difference you think between what is pumped in so to mach the price difference ? Have any of you got it done in the past and could recommend somebody? Once again any advice would be much apreciated

    Thanks

There is plenty of info on the SEAI site, including this guide https://www.seai.ie/resources/publications/Homeowners-Guide-To-Wall-Insulation.pdf

There is a €300 grant available for cavity insulation, the Guide takes you through this. Two of the more important things to check are 1) is your Contractor on the SEAI’s list of registered contractors? 2) Is the insulation product NSAI Agrément certified?

If you are getting quotes get them to specify exactly how many cubic metres of material they estimate they will use. Beware of a low estimate, they will charge more when the job is finished "because it was bigger than we thought".

Ask friends/colleagues who have had it done for recommendations.
