If a marriage has broken down and the husband decides to leave the family home and drops maintenance every week for the last 6 weeks. Is his wife who lives at the home with their 3 children entitled to any sort of assistance from social welfare? I read you must be seperated 3 months before you can apply for a payment. Is there any point even going in to their office the sw. He is giving her 150 a week they have no mortgage.

She can go to see her CWO and they’ll soon sort her out.
Also she can apply for JSA at any time and switch to OPFP after 3 months.
How old is the youngest child?

Yeah she can still get OPFP for 2 more years so she can go to the CWO and make her case.
