Pickup and scrapping service?

Hi all,

Have had my old car (06 Focus) lying outside my apartment for months now. It's become a bit of a burden, can't get a buyer so have decided to scrap it. only thing is i haven't started it in so long i don't know if it will. any good pickup and scrap services out there?

I know the Dublin Fire Brigade are looking for scrap vehicles. If you're in Dublin, give them a shout and see if they collect. You'd have the satisfaction of knowing the vehicle is being used in life-saving training.

Other fire services around the country take them too, but again, I'm not sure whether they collect or not. As far as I know, they issue a certificate of destruction.

If you don't want it ending up back on the road, you need to make sure that you give it to an authorised treatment facility who will give you a certificate of destruction which you send to Shannon with the registration cert.

Too many time wasters and the inevitable call a few days or weeks after buying saying that the €100 car is a dud and I want my money back. Granted that you have to pay to get collected now, I'd rather pay than deal with selling a car for €100.

surely you can cover that by saying in the ad for spares only/ car is not a runner?

If you search this forum there's unfortunately too many post of people selling cars with either no problem or the problem pointed out and the buyer coming back a few days or weeks later hassling for their money back.

Also how much time do you want to dedicate to dealing with a €100 car? Because you are going to get a lot of replies to wade through.
