Mercedes issue

    Ok so I have a 2002 C180 Mercedes. I hadn't been driving it regularly past 2 months. I drove Dublin to Kilkenny today and as I hit Kilkenny the power died in the car. I got it home with alot of having to stop and restart and allow it sit in hard shoulders.

    Warning light is showing Battery \ Alternator workshop warning.

    Is this just a battery replacement or more complicated. Any idea of rough price?

    Could be literally anything really. ANd it's very very unlikely to be the battery.

    Get someone to read the fault codes and see what it says.

    How do I get the fault codes read? Is that a diagnostic check.

    If you can get a mechanic to call out and see the car they will be able to scan the codes and perhaps fix the car there and then.

    As said, there could be many different reasons for the issue so start at the top, with error codes and a mechanic with a voltmeter.

    Alternator likely, but need to be checked. Check battery connections just in case.

    My Macanic is in Glasneven, good lad to call out locally, Crumlin might be a bit far.

    Well he's small time, more of a lock up really, but knows his stuff and won't rob you. You'd think it was a taxi rank outside, they all use him in the area.
