Peugeot 207 1.4hdi

Apologies if this has been posted about before. Having an issue with a 08 Peugeot 207 1.4hdi. when I down gear and try to overtake hitting 3000rpm an anti pollution light comes up on dash and power immediately cuts.
It won't let me go over 3000rpm but I can still drove it perfectly, just no power. This issue's only happens when I go to overtake.
The warning on the dash says anti pollution.
When the car is left unused overnight the issue disappears or if I turn on and off the engine twice.
I brought it to advanced pitstop who quoted me close to 600 as he felt he would have to replace a few sensors and a pollen filter as it was a matter of elimination. Don't know if he ran any diagnostics.
Also read getting the dpf removed etc would help the issue but does this come up on NCT check.

    Any help much appreciated.

    A pollen filter, really?

Has anyone plugged the car into diagnostics?

To my knowledge no. Does the fault need to be on it in order for them to diagnose. Please excuse any stupid questions. I've had 206 petrols for years but diesel is a while new area for me

I don't usually blanket object to any kind of repair operators but this problem, while not necessarily a huge one is probably beyond Advance Pitstop, particularly as they have already said their strategy is to use the process of elimination to solve it, that is trade speak for "they plan on firing parts at it using your money".

I don't even know what a pollen filter is doing in this conversation but that'll tell you the sort of stupidity you're likely dealing with.
