Hi everyone im on the hunt for a towbar for my 2014 dacia duster I rang kearys and renault for a price they wanted €550 quid for it to be done.. other places I called wanted €400 for generic towbar.. just wondering is there any towbars on Amazon or ebay that you can install yourself ?..

also is there a certain type that I do not have to cut the bumper in order to fit it cause some towbars require the bumper to be cut I'd rather not cut it...

1 more question would I need to have it wired up all I will be towing is a dog trailer I won't be towing anything else with it..

    Thanks in advanced

No such thing as a generic towbar. Towbars are specific to each vehicle due to the mounting points to the chassis.
As bumpers have gotten bigger due to aiding aerodynamics most will require some kind of cutting to allow a towbar to be fitted.
Wiring will be required for any trailer you tow even if it's a narrow dog box. Ensure a relay box is used in the fitment otherwise it can cause warnings & errors to appear on the dash when towing. Also, it's just best practice these days.

I was looking at a couple on ebay says no cutting required but im half hesitated that it would have to be cut when arrives as it can be very misleading on ebay not every bumper needs to be cut on the duster there's certain type of towbars that prevent the cutting I think there swan necks .. I always see people towing by me here in cork with no lights wired up they never get pulled on it

    Have you tried these guys.
    http://www.murraytowbars.com
They are on Melbourne rd, near CIT and the motor tax office.

I've no connection, other than I have used them in the past.
Think I paid ~€295 for a hitch for a Toyota

I recently bought a towbar from supplier listed below.
While mine was for CRV, they supply towbars pretty much for any car.

    https://www.dobrehaki.pl/towbars-for-dacia-duster-2013-c-1_338_343_345.html

That one is manufactured by AUTO-HAK which is probably the biggest Polish towbar manufacturers. Cheapest one without easily removable towball is €96.
To that you'll need to add €25 for postage (takes about a week) and wiring.
They have wiring kit designed for duster for €67 (7pin) or €73 (13pin) and that's the best way to go. But if you think that's expensive, you can probably get away with regular kit for couple of euros, but that will need fiddling with the wiring, soldering, etc...

You can mount the towbar yourself as it comes with mounting instructions (you can also download that from the website even before you buy it) or you can get someone to mount it for you if you're not handy with that kind of jobs.
It doesn't require removal of bumper for installation, as well as there's no need to cut the bumper.

Mine arrived within a week. Took me few hours to mount it myself. I used generic wiring kit for couple euro's but that was for 2006 CRV, so much simpler electronics than more modern dacia.

I can honestly recommend that supplier.

Il give them a look 😊 better than paying between €450-€550 for one done by a garage or dealers I will be only used it also for 6 months only so don't want to really waste all that money also . So basically when you order one online it comes with just the towbar bracket and ball joint and the wire is a extra option? . And from looking at alot online they seem pretty easy to fit just all bolting that's about it from the looks of it

It comes complete ready to install (with all bolts and nuts), but not with wiring.
Wiring is extra - and as I said you can order electric kit purposely designed for duster from the list from my link, or you can search that website for generic one much cheaper, but more difficult to wire (or maybe even impossible to wire on a duster - don't know).

BTW -it's for 2 gen duster so from 2013 those towbars I linked for you.

To be honest 450 fitted and wired is not bad for a duster towbar. They aren't the easiest to fit but not too bad. Same towbar for 2wd and 4wd but different ways of mounting them. You will need the special relay box, it won't be possible to wire in directly
