Hi all, ive been on Dublin City Council for over 10 years waiting on a 3 bed house. I was in Band 2 but have moved to medical priority band 1. Does anyone know how many more years we will have to wait. For the record both myself and my husband work we receive no benefits apart from child benefit we are both in minimum wage jobs and have a son with disabilities.

It really does depend on a few things

How many people are also ahead of you with the same level of priority
How many, if any, houses are being built within your preferred areas as stated on your housing application

The biggest problem being theres not much building going on in dublin atm, and the closer you want to be to the city or bigger commuter areas the worse that is. Might be worth taking a look at your preferred areas and possibly changing 1 or 2 to a little further afield where you can see building happening.

I got very lucky, (i was removed from the list with about 3 years on when we moved a few years ago, i sent a change of address letter but silly me didnt register it and it was never received) So we had to reapply when we figured it out, so we were only on the new list a little over a year when I was awarded the highest level of medical priority. About 3 months after being awarded priority we got a 3 bed house in our target area (5km from the kids temp school building and 3.5km from the proposed school site) But they also built a 40 house estate there that happened to have a portion of the finished very close to when i was awarded priority. But we also changed one of our preferences to be the county side of the part of the city we wanted to live in.
