It absolutely is ageism! I'm not denying that at all. I think Carroll is a brilliant coach and also great to listen to. Will he still be there in 5 years when these picks start to show their worth? I'd say it's less likely than likely.

But better the devil you know of course which is why I said he won't be going anywhere. It was just a musing on my part, it's the offseason after all.

Kalil Mack is headed to the chargers. The AFC west will be nuts next year.

The Jags game was at the end of the season. Surely if the season was giving him confidence he would have it by then. I doubt film sessions were good for him during the season, his stats were ok but his play was never great. He was lucky a lot, which happens to every QB at times but if you have a QB getting lucky while playing with an overall strong squad doesn't reach the play offs then you probably have issues. I thought they would have seen out the contract for the sake of it but I don't see an issue with them moving on, I had expected they would do so at the end of his contract.

Yeah, it is like going into a full rebuild with a 38 year old QB. You might get lucky with everything going right and it is a quick rebuild but most likely they won't be around by the time it is done and the replacement might mean everything needs to change.

Carroll has been riding Wilson's coat tails for years and basically wasted his prime. I don't see this rebuild going well with him unless they stumble into a QB, like taking on the toxicity of Watson.

Not sure what ownership is doing there at all unless they don't rate Fields. If they were going to blow things up they should have done it last year, quite likely now that Bears will only be coming around again when it is time for Fields to get paid.

Well they certainly should have blown it up last year but what's done is done. BUT with the Mack trade we now look to have something like 121M in cap space in 2023. So the plan might be that they just want to see Fields progress this year and damn the win-loss record, then if he does show good, 2023/4 be a big years. If not, start again, of course, but no more restructuring big names and kicking the can down the road.

This is all just speculation. But if the new GM doesn't have faith in Fields he definitely shouldn't have taken the job, because he will be evaluated first and foremost on how well Fields gets on. There isn't a plan B here.

I think you should wait to see how Wilson gets on in Denver before you decide that Carroll has been riding his coat tails.

Carroll's Seahawks won the NFC East before Wilson arrived there.

Well given how I doubt that the Denver Oline is a bad as Seattle the Wilson most likely won’t be running for his life.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 41,928 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

That doesn't mean he'll be a success. He doesn't have Tyler Lockett or DK Metcalf in Denver.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,737 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Did I say in my post that he will be a success ? No I didn’t say that I said it’ll be an improvement on the Seahawk excuse for an Oline.

it’s not just me but I really wish you wouldn’t infer or imply things that we don’t say because you at times can’t just let a debate go.

It's clearly suggested in your post.

If you want to drop it don't reply.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,737 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Final reply but no it **** doesn’t. I’m not the only one but you make this forum a **** chore at times to have a discussion on because you won’t leave **** go and always have to have the last word on things. Your opinion isn’t sacrosanct you know.

I find with the OP that if you constantly call them out on their BS you get put on the ignore list. It makes for a more pleasant experience on Boards

Watson cleared (legally speaking). Carolina seem to be favourites for a trade and it seems likely that he will be traded somewhere. Incredible player who will make an impact whereever he goes but yeah, my opinion of him (and that of the public) is not bound by a legal ruling. It will be interesting to see the reaction.

I'd take him for the vikes right now!

Ray Lewis was "cleared legally" too. If you can play teams and fans will want you.

Amari cooper has been traded to the Cleveland browns.

This is what happens when you sign running backs to ridiculous contracts.

Watson is not cleared (legally speaking) - he is still facing 22 cases in civil court and if any of these get to court there will be a legal finding. If the prosecution wanted to have charges filed against Watson then they would have got the grand jury to file charges. The likely reason for the prosecution not to push the charges was the expectation that they couldn't get a conviction. Florio has an article explaining the process.

Watson should never set foot on a football field again. The guy has all the hallmarks of a sexual predator. Any team that trades for Watson is playing with fire - individuals like that do not change their ways - and this will flare up again at some point.

He doesn't have Lockett or Metcalf - but he now has Sutton, Jeudy, Patrick, Hamler, Albert O and Williams. He also has a much stronger OL and one that will take a further step up if the Broncos trade for La'el Collins to fill the one weak spot on the line and the shift back to ZBS will also play into the strengths of the OL personnel. On top of that Wilson will not have the ultra conservative, ultra predictable and run-heavy offence that Carroll insists on running in Seattle. He is coming to a coaching staff that is steeped in the outside zone / WCO that play directly into Wilson's strengths and a staff that will design the offence around these strengths. Oh - and he will have a better defence as well that will give him better field position.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Wilson have the best season of his career in 2022. Does this mean that the Broncos will win the SB or even the AFCW ? - no it doesn't - but the Broncos are now firmly in the mix for the SB as one of the top four teams in the AFC (and if Wilson plays as well as I expect he will - they are no2 on that list behind the Chiefs).

Which of the Bengals, Chiefs, Titans and Bills are you replacing in the AFC top four?

Personally I think the Patriots will be ahead of you as well with Mac Jones having a year under his belt.

He's legaly cleared of Criminal Charges. That's not to say nothing happened, but there's no proof that he did anything illegal.

They threw the worst of the evidence at the Grand Jury to try to get a criminal conviction, so that's all that will be used in a Civil court. Of course there's a chance a different judge or lawyer could get a conviction, but it's unlikely.

Emotions will run high on this one, there'll be protests wherever he lands, but in a league where Kyle Trask, PJ Walker and Mason Rudolph are currently listed as QB1's, teams will defnitely take a chance on Watson staying out of trouble

The GOAT is just too competitive.

With the season he had in '21 he is well entitled to continue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,112 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

He's never properly retiring, is he? 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,262 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

In other qb news, cousins gets a 35 million extension from the Vikings. Every player in the league should be beating a path to his agent's door, because he is next to Jesus with the loaves and fishes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,664 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

The rising cost of living affects even the likes of Tom Brady. 😜

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,737 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Well he will have to retire at some point. He is human after all. He was at old Trafford this weekend and there’s video of Cristiano Ronaldo asking him is he done, and Jesus you’d swear Ronaldo had kicked his dog by his reaction.

Someone just paid $518k for his "last" touchdown ball this weekend too.
