How reliable would a 2010 Opel Insignia be? Looking at one for around €7000, would you think this is reasonable? Insignia drivers, how do you find them?

Have an 11, find it good and reliable, no issues so far had timing belt replaced before I got it

Very bad rep for engine failure and gearbox failure.
    the 2.0 ctdi

    might have changed in 11/12

Early Insignias are not known for their reliability. Engines blowing due to oil pump failure, dody gearbox and the not unheard of case of Opel spontaneous combustion. You pay your money and take your chances. They got much better with the facelift from 2013/2014 though.

The engine issue was due to a seal at the sump wasn't it, not an oil pump failure? The gearbox issue is not unique to the Insignia, I believe it's the same gear box used at one time in the 159 and caused the same problems.

IMO 2010 insignias are the worst car on the road atm,
thats the 2.0 ctdi ,dont have any experience with the petrols

I had a late 2012 from new and put 150k on it without a bother, very reliable and trouble-free but serviced on the button by main dealer.
Hear a lot of disaster stories about the earlier ones and if it were my money I'd thread very very carefully.

2010 era insignia are going for 1.5-2k euro because they really are one of the worst cars sold of that era! 14 on are better as said.

Can't agree more my mechanic said they are absolute dirt the wife's uncle had an 11one bought it up North off main dealer Sri model low mileage went looking other week to change most he was offered was 2grand went back up North and got a 16 Hyundai i40 for a great price very high spec the dealer begrudgingly gave him 2sterling for it

My Advice to any one buying one of these get the oil seal replaced inside the sump, its 550 euro approx depending who does it, a special tool is required from opel, so opel dealer is best option, they bench 10 hours for this, but well worth the piece of mind,.

the beginning of the end, oil pressure warning on cold start, oil pressure low switch off engine, if you are allready here get it done ASAP, or you will kill your engine.

you get a lot of car for the money,.

this is the main issue with this car,

nothing else will kill it, other than the normal mismanagement of the car

    Price seems high alright.

Have an '11 1.8 petrol with ~80k on it and runs perfect not had a bother with it.

Cars are pot luck. My reliable skoda superb gave me no end of issues right until i got rid. My unreliable insignia has been flawless....

The 2.8ltr petrol 4WD version is apparently the most reliable. 2009/10s going for €10-€12k. No chance of getting insured here unfortunately. It used to be the Jesus says no mentality, I guess its now the Eamon Ryan says no
